Grass-fed beef marketing cooperative

CISA is working with a group of Franklin County farmers to explore the creation of a grass-fed beef marketing cooperative.

Local beef farmers have noticed a significant increase in demand for grass-fed beef. They have met several times to discuss the potential of cooperatively raising, processing and marketing a stable, consistent supply of grass fed beef to the local market.

A USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant is providing technical assistance to the West County Grass Fed Beef Project Steering Committee to plan for the development and launch of a producer-owned marketing coop.

Producing and marketing locally grown grass fed livestock strengthens and supports our farm communities, regional economies, provides fresh, clean food for consumers, preserves the local landscape, and helps foster a sense of community.
