Farm2City
project
150,000
people who eat every day are surrounded by 1,500 farms growing
and producing everything from fruit to meat, vegetables to ice
cream, honey to pickles. CISA’s Farm2City Project connects
residents in Chicopee, Holyoke and Springfield with these farms
through:
•
CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)
share opportunities,
• farmers markets, and
• independent and chain grocery stores.
Spanish,
English, Polish, Vietnamese and Russian Farmers Markets posters
at WIC offices, social service agencies, community centers and
senior centers encourage use of coupons at farmers markets and
grocery stores.
Download the posters: Spanish,
English, Vietnamese,
Polish.
Van
signs in Chicopee promote the region’s farmers markets.
Russian and Vietnamese posters reach ethnic consumers in Springfield
who are looking for speciality foods.
Nutritional
educators from the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts work with
twelve families who shop at farmers market. Together they will
prepare meals made with fresh, local food.
CISA’s
Farm 2 City program is bridging the gap between urban consumers
and rural farmers. Learn more about the program by downloading
