Farm2City in Holyoke

We are happy to announce that due to the success of the 2006 season, Nuestras Raices of Holyoke will again partner with Intervale Farm of Westhampton and Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture (CISA) to bring YOU fresh local food in 2007! Through Farm2City, you can purchase a 'share' of Intervale Farm's harvest and receive a weekly distribution of seasonally available chemical-free produce. Shares are available to individuals and families.

This is also a wonderful opportunity for Holyoke community based organizations to purchase a share (or shares) and incorporate fresh, local, organic food into their programs. If you represent an organization and are interested in this option, Intervale Farm is willing to discuss modifying the contents of your share to the best of their ability to fit your organizational needs. For more info about this option contact Maureen at Intervale Farm at (413) 527-5440.

The details . . .

What: A wide variety of chemical-free vegetables, always fresh-picked and changing with the season. From crisp salad greens and spinach in the spring to juicy tomatoes, sweet red peppers and corn in the summer, to bountiful squash, potatoes, and carrots in the fall, each week you will receive an abundant array of produce. Typically, each week’s share consists of enough vegetables for a family of 2-4 people and includes fresh flower bouquets and herbs.

Where: Shares are distributed at Nuestras Raices, 329 Main St.

When: Every Monday from 4-6 PM from June 4 to October 15.

How much: The price of a share is $420. This breaks down to $21/week for local, chemical-free, fresh, vegetables, flowers and herbs delivered to you. Can’t get much better than that!

“I live in the city and don’t have access to a farm stand. Because of my work hours, I rely on a grocery store for vegetables shipped from California. Farm2City has been wonderful! Every week I enjoy fresh local produce and I am eating healthier. This is a fabulous and economical program that I hope to be part of for years to come.”
—Joan Giovannini, 2005 Intervale Farm shareholder through Farm2City
